Padman Trailer: Forget Superman, Spiderman...Akshay Kumar Is The New Unconventional 'Superhero'
The trailer of Akshay Kumar-Radhika Apte-Sonam Kapoor starrer, Padman is finally here! Check it out...
“America ke paas Superman hai, Batman hai, Spiderman
hai.. Lekin India ke paas... Padman Hai,” are the opening lines of the trailer
of Padman! The trailer introduces Akshay Kumar as Padman who is on a
mission to provide sanitary pads to the women in rural India so that they live
a healthy and hygienic life. His attempt of making a difference is opposed by a
lot of people but despite of that, he never gives up.
While all superheroes
wear capes and do unimaginable things like flying in the air or possessing
super powers, our very own desi superhero is a rather unconventional one.
Just few seconds into the trailer and it will surely get you hooked! The trailer is fun but it also delivers a serious, social message at the same time.
Now, we all know that Padman is based on the real life story of Arunachalam Muruganantham who invented low-cost sanitary pad making machine and has innovated grass-roots mechanisms for generating awareness about traditional unhygienic practices around menstruation in rural India. After watching the trailer, it would be safe to say that Akshay totally fits the bill. He has stepped into the shoes of Arunachalam Muruganatham and has done complete justice to the role.

The film, which also stars Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor, was initially scheduled to release alongside Akshay and Rajinikanth’s 2.0. However, the release date of 2.0 was pushed further to avoid clash between both the Akshay Kumar starrers. Padman also has Amitabh Bachchan in a cameo.
